Cost Guidelines

When making your decision on who to work with you have to find the best balance for you between the budget you have in mind, the quality of work that each company can provide; the features you would like incorporated into the design and how long you want your new cabinets to last and look good.

In the long run it is worth it to spend a bit more if you can to get quality cabinets and workmanship, someone you can trust to work with and who will deliver and install your project on time.

At Custom Wood Products & Property Services, LLC the formula we use to estimate the total cost to design, build and install a project is basically this: three times the cost of materials (total project cost shown on your quote
includes taxes that are incorporated into the cost but not listed separately).

The next consideration when it comes to cabinet pricing is the type of cabinet construction. There are three main types: stock cabinets, semi-custom cabinets and custom cabinets.

Stock
cabinets are fully prefabricated and sold as-is by home improvement or design stores; they can usually be taken home the same day or within a few days.

Semi-custom
cabinets allow for slightly more customization by the purchaser, and they usually require a longer lead time to build, depending on the number of customizations requested.

Custom
cabinets are made by hand to fit the buyer's exact specifications, and timing for these depends on the scope of the job and the cabinetmaker's schedule.

These are general guidelines and pricing of course will vary from company to company. When planning a project do some research and get about three estimates from different companies for comparison. You can probably always get someone to quote a bit less expensive but there is also a trade-off in regards to pricing and the quality of work you'll get for that price.

General price ranges for the various types of cabinets are:

Stock cabinets are cheapest (cost and quality – don’t expect these to last long - you’ll get what you pay for), at around $60 to $200 per linear foot

Semi-custom cabinets will run you around $100 to $500 per linear foot (mid-range price and quality but not always a great fit for what you might want or need)

Custom cabinets usually cost anywhere between $500 up to $1,200 per linear foot depending on type of wood, style and decorative accents chosen. (better quality, durability and built to fit the space they are made for with the design elements you want.
